UTOPIA! Un programma che va in scena in un momento in cui la fiducia in un mondo migliore e più giusto è più richiesta che mai. Può sembrare utopico, ma è proprio nella musica che troviamo quei momenti preziosi che ci avvicinano un po’ di più alla visione di un mondo ideale. Il viaggio inizia con il Capriccio Sinfonico di Giacomo Puccini, un’opera che cattura immediatamente l’ascoltatore con la sua brillante orchestrazione e la profonda passione che caratterizza Puccini. Qui non ci sono falsi freni, né paura di rischiare: solo la forza pura e impetuosa di un compositore che vive il momento dell’utopia.

La vista del faro di Bishop Rock, il punto più occidentale dell’Inghilterra, sembra altrettanto utopica. Per chi si mette in viaggio, è l’ultimo scorcio di terra; per i viaggiatori del Nuovo Mondo, è un simbolo di benvenuto dopo le vaste e desolate acque dell’Atlantico. Bishop Rock di Doreen Carwithen cattura in modo impressionante queste profonde emozioni: dalla speranza e dall’esuberante partenza alla nostalgia e al ricordo di ciò che è stato lasciato alle spalle. La prima svizzera dell’opera si inserisce perfettamente nella serie di compositrici che hanno dato al repertorio concertistico classico una voce significativa.

E poi – la Sinfonia n. 7 di Anton Bruckner. Qui l’utopia si dispiega in una luce completamente diversa: monumentale e con potenti climax che oscillano tra la redenzione celeste e la lotta terrena. In mezzo agli spazi sonori sconfinati e all’intensità impressionante che Bruckner crea nella sua musica, risuona un pensiero utopico: la speranza che l’impossibile diventi una realtà tangibile nell’universo della musica.

UTOPIA! A program that takes to the stage at a time when belief in a better, fairer world is more in demand than ever. It may sound utopian, but it is precisely in music that we find those precious moments that bring us a little closer to the vision of an ideal world. The journey begins with Capriccio Sinfonico by Giacomo Puccini, a work that immediately captivates the listener with its brilliant orchestration and the deep passion that characterizes Puccini. There is no false restraint here, no fear of risk – just the pure, impetuous power of a composer who lives the moment of utopia.

The view of the lighthouse at Bishop Rock, the most westerly point in England, seems similarly utopian. For those setting out, it is the last sight of land; for travelers from the New World, it is a symbol of welcome after the vast, desolate waters of the Atlantic. Doreen Carwithen’s Bishop Rock impressively captures these deep emotions – from hope and exuberant departure to longing and the memory of what has been left behind. The Swiss premiere of the work fits seamlessly into the series of female composers who have given the classical concert repertoire their own significant voice.

And then – the Symphony No. 7 by Anton Bruckner. Here the utopia unfolds in a completely different light: monumental and with powerful climaxes that oscillate between heavenly redemption and earthly struggle. In the midst of the boundless sound spaces and the awe-inspiring intensity that Bruckner creates in his music, a utopian thought resounds: the hope that the impossible will become a tangible reality in the universe of music.
